The 1203-GD1 is an Allen-Bradley Communication module that is used to link devices with SCAN port communication port to a Remote I/O network. These Two (2) ports co-exists in the same module while the module itself mounts to a DIN rail, without the need to be mounted within a PLC rack thus allowing independent or stand-alone configuration. Being installed separately, this module requires an external power supply. The power supply requirement of the communication module is 84 to 264VAC.

This communication module has front panel terminals that consists of One (1) SCANport, One (1) Remote I/O and power supply terminal. It also has LED indicators to detect Fault, SCANport STS, Health, Rem I/O ACT and Remote STS. Except for the Fault indicator that indicates RED when module fault is detected, other LED indicators provide GREEN light. If earlier version of SCANport module is used, amber is used instead of Green.

This module has DIP switches installed at the bottom of the module to define the operation terminating resistor that is used to close the Remote I/O segment. The 1203-GD1 module is powered by an input voltage range of 85 to 264 Volts AC, along an input maximum input current of 35 mA and frequency between 45 and 63 Hertz. The SCANport load is 60 mA DC. Environmental specifications include operating temperature range of 0 to 50 degrees Celsius, or 32 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit, storage temperature range between -40 and 85 degrees Celsius, or -40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit. The required relative humidity should not exceed 95% (non-condensing). The mechanical specifications include dimensions of 76 x 45 x 123 millimeters, and a NEMA Type 1 enclosure.
