The 1203-GD2 Serial Communications Module is an interface device designed to deliver a digital link between serial communications devices and all devices that use SCANport technology. It is available in both open and enclosed configurations and is compatible with the following Allen-Bradley devices: 1336 PLUS, 1336 FORCE, 1305 MicroDrive, SMC, and SMP. It is intended for use with devices that communicate via RS232, RS422, or RS485 hardware standards (using the DF1 protocol), and the module contains three DIP switches as follows: SW1, SW2, and SW3. Switches have the option of being set to either ON or OFF. The communications module can be set up with three mounting configurations, as follows: open style board factory installed in a drive, open style board as a separate kit, or enclosed style for panel mount or DIN rail mount.

The module has the following environmental, electrical, communications, and dimension specifications: For environmental specifications, the module must be kept within the operating temperature range of 0 to 50 Degrees (C), within the storage temperature range of -40 to 85 Degrees (C), and within the relative humidity range of 0 to 95% (non-condensing). With respect to electrical specifications, the module has an input voltage of 85 to 264V AC (1-Phase), an input frequency of 45 to 63 Hz, and an input current maximum of 35mA. The SCANport load is 60mA DC. For communications specifications, the 1203-GD2 has baud rates of 110, 300, 600, 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, and 19.2K. The dimensions of the module are 1.8 x 3.0 x 4.8 in.
