The 1786-RPT is a ControlNet repeater from Allen-Bradley and it comes with a Coaxial Panel Mount repeater type and a Coax fiber type. The 1786-RPT Coaxial Panel Mount Repeater runs on 85 to 250 Volts AC input power or 110 to 250 Volts DC. The current limit for the 1786-RPT internal power supply is 85 to 250 Volts AC or 110 to 250 Volts DC. The fault relay requirements for the 1786-RPT is 132 Volts AC and 186 Volts DC. The 1786-RPT repeater is used to increase the number of nodes and extend the length of a segment. The 1786-RPT can also be used to configure a star or a tree configuration and therefore the number of repeaters needed depends on the network topology. Basically, the 1786-RPT is used in a ControlNet cable system to bring the segments together.
The 1786-RPT also comes with two indicators for status and troubleshooting. There is a fault-relay contact for a status indicator which when connected to an outer circuitry, the contact should be used for turning off the light and activating the backup repeater. When the repeater is working as expected, the contact is held closed while if it is not working as expected or the repeater is faulty, then the contact will open. The environment specifications for the 1786-RPT include relative humidity of 5 to 95%, non-condensing while the operating and storage temperature ranges are 0 to 60 degrees Celsius and -40 to 85 degrees Celsius, respectively. Before using the 1786-RPT, ensure that it is mounted so that air flows in and out of the air holes provided on the top and bottom of the repeater. The 1786-RPT also has a NEMA enclosure that provides protection from dust, moisture, and corrosive environments. In addition, it is advisable to ensure that the 1786-RPT is mounted to a grounded metal plate whenever possible.
