The Allen-Bradley 1764-24AWA is a Bulletin 1764 Base Unit that, together with the Bulletin 1764 Processor, forms a complete MicroLogix 1500 Programmable Controller. It is a replaceable part that houses a communications port, a power supply, and embedded inputs and outputs. It is designed to be mounted on the Compact I/O Expansion unit to provide additional I/O. This maximizes options for embedded I/O while minimizing the costs of inventory stocking. The 1764-24AWA Base has a 120 to 240 VAC power supply with a power usage of 70 VA, a maximum load power of 16 Watts, and a line power of 85 to 265 Volts AC at 47 to 63 Hertz. It has 12 relay outputs with 2 isolated relays per unit. The maximum continuous relay current must stay within the 8A per common and the total load controlled must be limited to 1440VA (break). It has twelve 120 Volt AC inputs. The input circuits of inputs 0 to 11 do not support adjustable filter configuration. The maximum turn-off and turn-on times are 20 milliseconds.

The 1764-24AWA allows advanced communications connectivity via its Channel 0 port. The 1764-24AWA must be used with compatible processor modules, which are the 1764-LRP or the 1764-LSP. This unit can also be used with several different memory modules and real-time clocks such as the 1764-MM1, 1764-MM2, and the 1764-RTC. The 1761-CBL-PM02 cable can be used for programming this MicroLogix 1500 module. Input and output LEDs indicate the status of the I/O channels on this MicrolLogix Module. The Bulletin 1764-24AWA has Class I Division 2 Hazardous Location, CE, C-Tick, c-UL, and UL product standards approval. It should be mounted horizontally with an allowance of 50 millimeters (2 inches) on all sides for adequate ventilation.

The 1764-24AWA is a MicroLogix 1500 base unit manufactured by Allen-Bradley. This base unit provides a modular connection to any MicroLogix 1500 processors and features an integrated Twelve (12) 120VAC discrete inputs and Twelve (12) Relay outputs. This controller and compatible modules are DIN Rail mounted and modular type that takes up minimum panel space during installation.

The 1764-24AWA is primarily designed for small to medium automation requirements. It is supports expansion with the use of 1769 Compact I/O modules locally or via an expansion bank. Up to Eight (8) local I/O modules may be installed in the local chassis while up to Sixteen (16) Compact I/O modules may be installed in the expansion I/O bank.

The integrated RS232 Serial communication interface that supports the DF1 protocol in Full or Half Duplex. This communication port may be used for communication with computers, programming devices, HMI and SCADA systems. If intended for use in DeviceNet, DH485 or Ethernet I/P communication network, an Allen-Bradley interface converter may be used. Compatible Advanced Interface Converter are 1761-NET-AIC, 1761-NET-ENI, or to a DeviceNet network through with the use of DeviceNet Scanner module 1769-SDN.

The 1764-24AWA supports 1764-LRP or 1764-LRP processor modules. Depending on the processor used, memory size may range from 7K - 12K user memory. The user memory is maintained with the use of 1747-BA Lithium battery. The rated controller processing speed is 1 milisecond per 1K of user program.
