The Allen-Bradley 1771-ARC adapter module is a PLC 5 series remote I/O adapter module. It operates as an interface between the I/O modules and the remote I/O processor in the PLC 5 system that it is installed in. The 1771-ARC remote I/O adapter module can be installed up to 5000 cable feet away from the processor that it is communicating with and its maximum serial communication speed is 25,000 bits per second. It uses 900 milliamps of backplane current at 5 Volts DC. The 1771-ARC remote I/O adapter module can collect output status data and read and transmit input status data.

The 1771-ARC PLC 5 I/O Adapter Module by Allen-Bradley is an I/O adapter module which provides interface between remote I/O distribution panel and the PLC 5 I/O modules and helps collect output image table status data from the distribution panel to easily update the status of outputs terminals of all output modules connected to the PLC 5 I/O Chassis. The 1771-ARC module also reads and transmits input status data from the input terminals of all input modules located on the I/O chassis to the distribution panel. The entire module is located on the I/O chassis adapter slot and uses a serial communication form with a communication rate of 25,000 bits per seconds. The module draws 900mA backplane current at 5V DC and can be placed at a maximum distance of 5,000 cable-feet from the processor. The 1771-ARC module is keyed by connecting the top connector between pin 36 and 38 or connecting the top connector between pins 54 and 56. The 1771-ARC’s operational temperature ranges between 0-60 0C at 5-95% non-condensing relative humidity and it is factory-specified to store under a temperature range of -40-85 0C.
