The Allen-Bradley 1771-SIM module is an input and output simulation module from the PLC 5 series. This simulation module can be installed in any Allen-Bradley PLC 5 series Bulletin 1771 universal I/O chassis. The 1771-SIM input and output simulation module is often used for input simulation and output indicating. It is a single-slot module with switches that simulate open/close devices. The 1771-SIM input and output module can test programs for their response time to inputs and their response time for turning on and turning off.

The 1771-SIM PLC 5 Input/output Simulation Module by Allen-Bradley is an input simulation and an output indicating module installed in any slot of the 1771 universal I/O chassis and is used for testing programs for the appropriate response to specific inputs replacing the manual input devices and temporal output test lamps. The module has 8 input simulation switches for replacing the manual input devices and 8 output indicators with a built-in LED for replacing the temporary output test lamps. The module draws 300mA of backplane current at 5V DC and is installed in either the High byte slot or the Low byte slot. The 1771-SIM is keyed to the backplane through the connection between pins 14 and 16, 24 and 26 of the backplane top connector. It has an operational temperature range of 32-140°F at 5-95% non-condensing ambient relative humidity range, without de-rating, and it has a non-operational temperature range between -40 and 185°F. The 1771-SIM module has dimensions of 2in x 6in x 10in and weighs approximately 1lbs.
