The 1745-TCAT is a Timer/Counter Access Terminal module from Allen Bradley. The module enables sequencer data, programmed counter/timer allowing the values to be monitored online. The 1745-TCAT is interfaced with the SLC 100 Programmable controllers. This module has a key switch, ensuring that only authorized personnel may operate the 1745-TCAT. To record errors, the keyring has a tag attached where errors can be recorded. To access or enter data into the module, the 1745-TCAT has a keyboard and a display. For troubleshooting and monitoring, the module has LED indicators (instruction indicators, protect, and data indicators). When the 1745-TCAT Timer/Counter Access Terminal is placed at a remote distance, not close to the SLC 100 controller, the 1745-N2 remote communication kit is used to interface the module with the SLC 100 controller which should have a distance of 100 feet between them. The 1745-TCAT operates in MODIFY mode only when the key is inserted and turned 90 degrees clockwise. When powering up the module, it goes through a self-test mode after which it displays the lowest counter in a program.

The module is powered through the programmable processor where it’s connected using a 1.8-meter interconnecting cable. When placed remotely, the module is powered by an external power supply which dissipates 4 Watts and a voltage range of between 10.8 and 26.4 Volts Direct Current. The power supply must conform to NEC class 2. The 1745-TCAT has a maximum vibration rating of 1,0g (peak) with a peak to peak displacement of 0.006. The 1745-TCAT has a height of 6.0 Inches, a width of 5.50 Inches, and a depth of 2.9 Inches. Additionally, the module weighs 13 ounces. When installing the 1745-TCAT module switch the processor to auto mode with the pocket programmer connected, unplug the pocket programmer after switching power to the processor, use the interconnect cable to interface the module and the processor inserting it into the appropriate socket, power up the processor after which the 1745-TCAT should be self-diagnose itself and display the lowest counter in the program. The 1745-TCAT module should be mounted in a cutout on the door of the controller which ensures the module is not affected by atmospheric conditions. To ensure the module enclosure has maximum ventilation, make sure to leave enough space behind the enclosure door. Ensure no stress is placed on the interconnect cable even when the door to the enclosure is opened. Additionally, the 1745-TCAT module should be provided with maximum grounding.

The 1745-TCAT is a Timer-Counter Access module that is manufactured by Allen-Bradley that is used for connecting with a SLC 1000 Controller. This terminal enables access to timer, counters and sequencer data instructions. It enables monitoring capability for production, supervisory and maintenance personnel in on-line mode. Data from the accessed instructions may also be modified or monitored only. Through the integral keyswitch, the 1745-TCAT may be placed in Monitor or Modify mode.

The main parts of this Timer-Counter Access module include a Keyswitch to allow modification or prevent unauthrorized access to the processor. Keys and Keyring are included where error codes are printed for convenient troubleshooting activity. The keyboard is made of 16 Keys where modifications or navigation instructions may be implemented. The Address display is a 3-Character display used to show addresses and other important information. The Data display area is a 4-Character digital display used to show PR and AC values.

The module is also supplied with a detachable interconnect cable. This cable provides physical connection to the processor. Optional communication adapter kit may be installed to allow access of the processor up to 4000 feet. If the 1745-TCAT is accessing an SLC processor that is longer than 100 feet, a Series B controller must be used.

The 1745-TCAT may also be used to monitor Inputs and Outputs. Status of devices such as limit switches, selector switches, push buttons, etc may be viewed online. Output devices such as command to electrical loads may also be monitored. Additionally, internal memory addresses may also be monitored using the 1745-TCAT.
