MVI46-MCM

The Allen-Bradley MV146-MCM is an inRAx module from ProSoft Technology, an Allen-Bradley encompass partner company. This module is specifically a Modbus Master/Slave Network Interface Module, used with SLC 5/02 M0/M1 capable processors or later models.

The MV146-MCM is a single slot module that directly installs to a 1746 backplane. This module receives a valid configuration when installed to the local rack or extension rack. It does not support installation to a remote I/O rack. It comes with One (1) RJ45 debug and configuration port and supplied with a DB-9M cable and operates using RS-232 standard only. It also has Two (2) RJ45 RS-232/422/485 Application combo ports. Additionally, the MV146-MCM is equipped with Module status, Backplane transfer status, Application status, Serial activity and error status LED. The MV146-MCM enables any compatible SLC 500 processor to easily interface with MODBUS enabled devices and hosts instruments. It serves as an I/O module between the MODBUS network and the SLC 500 backplane. It performs asynchronous data transfer and provides a 5000-Word register size when performing data exchanges between the module and the processor over the MODBUS network. This communication adapter specifically supports Foreign device data concentrator, Pipelines and offshore platforms, Food processing, Mining, Pulp and paper as well as SCADA communication applications.

This module supports ladder logic for setting up the data transfer between the processor and the module. Configuration data can be established from configuration text file that is downloaded to the MV146-MCM Modbus Master/Slave interface module.

The MV146-MCM utilizes a backplane power supply system to carry out its operational protocols. Ladder logic is used for data transfer processes and a sample ladder logic file is provided by default when the MV146-MCM is shipped after purchase. The current load capacity of the MV146-MCM is 800 MA running at 5.1 Volts DC. The MV146-MCM has multiple types of indicators so that operators can understand and act on the current phase of operations with just a glance including application status, backplane transfer status, LED module status, and serial port error status. Compared to other interface modules on the market, the MV146-MCM is a bit flexible in its connectivity because it can accommodate both DB-9M type cables as well as RS-232/422/485 cables for input. Both types of cables are included with the MV146-MCM when it is shipped. It should be noted that the MV146-MCM is highly temperature-sensitive and the optimal operating temperature for the MV146-MCM ranges between 32 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit. When not in operation, the storage temperature for the MV146-MCM ranges between -40 and 185 degrees Fahrenheit. The device generates 30G of operational shock and 50G of non-operational shock. The device does not support remote racks.
