Allen Bradley Panelview 300
The PanelView 300 series is a series of standard industrial operator terminals that are manufactured by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation. The PanelView 300 operator terminals can be used to monitor applications in a machine or system and to control some of those applications are machines. They are designed to be mounted on industrial devices that do not come with built-in interfaces. The PanelView 300 operator terminals series includes terminals with different screen sizes, graphics and resolution options, input and options, ports, functions, and power ratings. For example, the Micro 300 operator terminals from this series need 24 Volts DC of input power and they have 1 RS-232 communication port that can support the DF1 and DH-485 communication protocols, but they do not have printer ports.
Some of the Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation PanelView 300 series industrial operator terminals are controlled by touchscreens, some are controlled by keypads, and some have both. All of the PanelView 300 terminals with keypads have function keys that the users can program to save specific custom functions for their applications, and these terminals are available with function key legend kits that allow the users to make custom labels for their function keys. These terminals support operation in multiple languages. The users should never sharp objects or blunt and heavy objects on the touchscreens because these objects can scratch or damage the screens, and the users should also avoid pressing multiple keys or touchscreen objects at the same time because this may cause the PanelView 300 operator terminals to malfunction or to experience some type of unintended operation or error.

About Panelview 300
The Allen-Bradley PanelView 300 Operator Terminals have monochrome displays for monitoring and controlling machines in various commercial and industrial applications. The width x height x depth dimensions of each unit are 5.53 x 7.6 x 3.21 inches. They are available in 24 Volts DC input power ratings and each terminal has 8 (F1 to F8) customizable function keys, 4 cursor keys, and 10 numeric entry keys. The PanelView 300 graphics operator interfaces can communicate with programmable logic controllers in the ControlLogix family through the DH-485, RS-232 (DH-4H5), DeviceNet, and RS-232 (DF1) communication options that are available with different terminals in the series.
An additional RS-232 printer port is available with some versions of the Allen-Bradley PanelView 300 operator terminals. These devices are designed for panel-mounting or enclosure-mounting applications in non-hazardous locations. Their enclosure ratings include the NEMA Type 12/13 and NEMA 4X ratings for indoor applications. Self-locking nuts are incorporated into the design of these terminals to allow for quick and easy installation. Their maximum operating temperature rating is 135 degrees Celsius. Apart from the custom legend kits available for all versions of the PanelView 300 terminals, Series B and later terminal editions support the use of the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) labels. A sealing gasket for sealing the terminals to the panels or an enclosure ships with each unit. Apart from the display unit, 2 light-emitting diodes (LEDs) on the terminals provide information about the system. The green indicator LED lights up when the terminal is communicating with another device and the red LED indicates when a fault occurs.
PanelView 300 Startup Failure
If your PanelView 300 fails to startup properly, always check the power supply first. Ensure the terminal is receiving the correct voltage and that the wiring and connections to the power source are valid. In addition, you should also ensure the DC power positive and negative are attached to the proper terminals.
PanelView 300 Status Indicators
The status indicators are located on the back of your PanelView 300 terminal. The COMM indicator is green and reflects communication. The FAULT indicator is red and reflects hardware faults. Upon startup, the fault indicator should be off and the comm indicator on. If the fault indicator flashes a few times at startup, this is not a concern. However, if both indicators are off you should check the power cable. See the table below to interpret the terminal's indicator status:
