The IC200MDD848 module is a discrete I/O module manufactured by GE Fanuc Automation as part of the Versamax series. This module has 16 I/O points divided into 2 different groups, with each group comprised of 8 points. The GE Fanuc IC200MDD848 module has either positive logic or sourcing-type inputs, and it supports the channel-to-channel isolation for every discrete output point. Additionally, the IC200MDD848 module comes with various protection features for each of the output points, including Metal Oxide Varistors (MOVs) and snubbers. Although diagnostics features are provided, each of the I/O points is mapped to the status LED.

The IC200MDD848 discrete I/O module is powered by the backplane mounted on the PLC rack, but an external power source of 120 Volts AC is required for any switches that are providing power to the loads. Each of the input and output points of this module has a minimum load current of 10 milliamps and a maximum load current of 5 Amps. It also has a load current of 5 Amps maximum for a single 20-milliseconds cycle. The IC200MDD848 discrete I/O module consumes 125 milliamps from 5 Volts peak backplane voltage. When installing the wiring for this module and configuring the outputs for the inductive loads, it is recommended to have external suppression circuits. The IC200MDD848 module supports thermal derating as well as a variety of I/O combinations. The maximum number of active points that can run concurrently depends on various factors. Some of these factors include the surrounding temperature, the physical position of the DIN rail, the external voltage, and the position of the device itself.
