About PowerFlex 40P
The PowerFlex 40P series is a series of compact, low-voltage AC drives manufactured by Allen-Bradley. The PowerFlex 40P drives are available in output power ratings of 0.2 to 7.5 kilowatts for the 200 to 240 Volts AC voltage class, 0.4 to 11 kilowatts for the 380 to 480 Volts AC voltage class, and 0.75 to 11 kilowatts for the 500 to 600 Volts AC voltage class. Drives in this series offer a broad range of speed control and basic position control capabilities to meet the requirements of the simplest or the most demanding applications. PowerFlex 40P drives are suitable for applications like packaging machines, diverters, spinning machines, synthetic fiber spinning machines, and smart conveyor applications.
The PowerFlex 40P AC drives feature several motor speed control options without a feedback encoder. It leverages sensorless vector motor control to provide excellent torque performance across a wide speed range. The class 3 safe torque-off function is suitable for removing rotational power from motors in safety-related applications without powering down the drives. This series also offers Volts per Hertz control and closed-loop control. The local operator interface of the PowerFlex 40P drives is a 4-digit display with scroll and reset buttons. Independent position control is available on the PowerFlex 40P AC drives via the Step Logic, and all the drives in the series support the RS-485 and Common Industrial Protocol (CIP) communication options. These drives support local and remote programming, and their premier integration features save configuration and commissioning time. Drives in this family feature the IP 20 NEMA/UL Type Open, plate drive, and flange mount enclosures. Optional IP 30 NEMA/UL Type 1 conversion kits are also available for the drives in this series.
