About ControlLogix

The ControlLogix series drives offer control platforms for high-performance industrial systems. The Allen-Bradley manufactured ControlLogix series drives can perform sequential, process, or motion control in any combinations. These drives create a high-performance, multiprocessing platform. They use cost-effective distributed control systems for different process applications. The drives are cost-competitive packages and they come with several safety features. A ControlLogix system consists of a standalone controller and input/output modules inside a chassis. The body has a conformal coating which helps to extend the life of the product in harsh industrial environments. The ControlLogix drives can withstand temperature ranges from 0 and 60 degrees Celsius.

The ControlLogix architecture provides a wide range of input and output modules for many applications like high-speed digital process control. The devices in this series use the HART smart instrumentation features. This is an open protocol that is designed to connect analog devices. These drives come with removable terminal blocks which provide interconnection between the plant wiring. For internal connectivity, the devices use Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, ControlNet, SynchLink, Data Highway Plus, and remote input/output modules. The ControlLogix series drives are available in different variants that come with different outputs, different operating voltages, operating voltage ranges, maximum output currents, power dissipations, input types, and input resolution. The ControlLogix drives are also available with different power consumption levels. The controllers can monitor and control I/O across the backplane and over network links. The ControlLogix drives can also be used to bridge and route the control and information data. The baud rate of the controllers varies up to a maximum of 12 Mbps. The maximum thermal dissipation of the controllers is 15.4 BTU per hour. Both lithium-ion and externally mounted batteries are supported by the ControlLogix controller series.
