About GuardPLC

The GuardPLC series is a series of safety control systems and controllers manufactured by Allen-Bradley. These safety control systems are designed and built to provide superior speed, while also providing high throughput and stable network functionality. The units are compliant with the worldwide PLC standards and the global standards for functional safety. This series of safety control systems are applied where there is a requirement for sensing the speed, the direction, Zero-speed, temperature, pressure, and the flow of different applications. When it comes to supported communication structures, the GuardPLC features the safe Ethernet communications network, which is TUV-certified and used in safety applications.

The GuardPLC series features systems with status indicators when the controller or the module is in run mode. The manufacturer recommends that the users follow the closed-circuit principle for the external wiring while connecting the sensors. The controllers feature the fail-safe CPUs designed to meet the IEC 61508 (SIL 3) and the ISO 13849-1 standards. The units are designed to be able to sense fault status within certain safety time frames per the users’ specifications. If there is a fault that can result in a loss of application safety in combination with another fault, both are detected within multiple error occurrences. The GuardPLC provides monitoring of the timing and consistency of the hardware self-tests, and software self-tests of the controller. The unit is used for testing the cycle of the user program and processing the I/O signals as well as I/O tests. The GuardPLC monitors the controller’s run cycle and provides safe transitioning from the run status to the stop status.
