About SLC 500

The SLC 500 series is a series of programmer controllers manufactured by Allen-Bradley that provides excellent features and abilities. These controllers can serve a wide range of application demands, including material handling, HVAC control, high-speed assembly operations, simple motion control, and small process control. The controllers use an advanced instruction set which includes indirect addressing as well as high-level math capabilities. For network connectivity, the SLC 500 controllers use onboard Ethernet, DH+, or DH 485 ports. There are also options for ControlNet, DeviceNet, and remote I/O communication. The controllers are manufactured in compact designs and they can fit in compact locations. The SLC 500 controllers offer a broad selection of I/O. They have over 60 modules to control discrete, analog, and temperature signals. They also support 3rd-party modules. For programming, the RSLogix 5000 software can be used.

The SLC 500 controllers use backup options for fault tolerance with the ControlNet module or backup communication module. This controller series offers single channel and single port controllers for regular operation. The controllers are available with a wide range of operating voltage. The operating voltage ranges from 5 to 265 Volts AC or 5 to 125 Volts DC, 24 Volts AC/DC sink voltage, and 85 to 132 Volts AC and 10 to 30 Volts DC. The programmer controllers are manufactured with different step responses which include 60 milliseconds input and 2.5 milliseconds output, 100 milliseconds input and 2.5 milliseconds output. The SLC 500 series controllers use flash, EEPROM, and Flash EPROM as backup memory. The controllers in this series use different processors like the 502, 503, 504, 505, and 501 processors. The controller series has been certified with the KC, C-Tick, UL, and CE standards. A one-year warranty is offered by the manufacturer from the date of installation.
