About W200 Drives

Eaton Cutler-Hammer W200 non-reversing magnetic servo motor starters are full-voltage servo motor starters that are made for supplying and interrupting power to the motors due to the command signals or for interrupting motor power due to the activation of some of the protective functions. The states recognized by W200 servo motor starters as a danger to the motors are ground currents, phase losses, phase imbalances, or significant overloads. In all the above cases, the W200 servo motor starters will cut off the power to the motors and the LED that indicates the “trip” position will light up. These devices cannot be restarted until a reset procedure is performed, and this can be done manually (push the reset button on the starter housing) or remotely. At the bottom of the W200 starters are a DIP switch that is used to select the device’s reset mode, overload class, and the overload limit current. Based on the setting on the DIP switch, the starters can be calibrated to detect currents in the range of 12.4 to 111 Amps.

The Eaton W200 servo motor starters can be size 3 or size 4 and these sizes can cover 25 to 100 Horsepower (20 to 75 kilowatts) rated 3-phase motors. The main part of the W200 servo motor starters is the circuit board holding microprocessor that is programmable and responsible for all the devices’ protective features. Two communication devices known as WPONI and WPONIDNA devices can be added to the basic version of the W200 servo motor starters. The WPONI device is used for remote control and it allows the microprocessor to send data at 9600 baud rate via the INCOM network. The WPONIDNA adapter allows for device control via the DeviceNet network at a 125,000 baud rate.
