Allen Bradley PowerFlex 40P

The Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 40P series is part of the Allen-Bradley PowerFlex family of AC drives. It is based on the PowerFlex 40 series and it shares common accessories and options with this series. The PowerFlex 40P series is designed for applications requiring Category 3 safe-off and closed-loop control in a compact and economical design. The PowerFlex 40P drives are available in 240, 480 and 600 Volts AC voltage classes and in power ratings from 0.5 to 15 Horsepower. The PowerFlex 40P drives are certified by the CE and UL standards. The PowerFlex 40P drives are available in flexible mounting and packaging options like the IP 30, IP 66, and plate drive enclosures for up to a 75% reduction in dissipated power and the Zero Stacking mounting option for minimal inter-drive spacing with up to a 50 degrees Celsius ambient operating temperature. External filters are available for the PowerFlex 40P drives which enable compliance with the EN55011, Class A and B EMC requirements.

Several options are available for managing the PowerFlex 40P series drives’ start-up, configuration, and operation processes. These include external HMI or PC-based software such as the Pocket DriveExplorer, DriveTools SP and DriveExplorer software. PC-based software uses the resident DSI connection on the drives. An integrated display and reset button allow the users to modify display parameters and reset the drives if required. Sensorless vector, Volts per Hertz, and sinusoidal PWM control are the control methods available on the PowerFlex 40P drives. Integrated RS-485 ports on the PowerFlex 40P drives can also be used for drive programming. The drive features which lead to optimized performance include removable MOV, relay pre-charge, integrated brake resistor, and configurable PWM frequency features. The environmental specifications for the PowerFlex 40P drives include -10 to 50 degrees Celsius and -10 to 40 degrees Celsius surrounding air temperature ranges for IP 20 and IP 30 rated enclosures, respectively.
