About Panelview 2711E
The PanelView 2711E series is a family of Allen-Bradley PanelView 1000e, 1200e, and 1400e operator terminals with color display options and keypad or touchscreen functionalities. These terminals are available in clip-mount, panel-mount, and 19-inch rack-mount models with several enclosure options for standard and hazardous applications. They are also available in English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish language versions. The touchscreen versions of the PanelView 1200e terminals have 120 touch cells and they feature touch matrix technology that automatically aligns entries on the display grid. The touchscreen of PanelView 1000e and 1400e terminals offer more flexibility through their analog-resistive touchscreens that permit the operators to place objects of different sizes anywhere on the screen.
The PanelView 2711E keypad terminals feature 21 user-definable function keys, navigation keys, numeric keys, and fixed keys for the “Home,” “Select,” and “Backspace” functions. Applications for all the PanelView 2711E terminals can be programmed with the PanelBuilder 1400e software for the Windows operating system. The logic boards support connectivity options for the Remote I/O, DH+, ControlNet, DeviceNet, and EtherNet networks. Each terminal features new graphics and the 1400e model is equipped with factory-installed anti-glare glass for its screen. The 1200e and 1400e terminals in the PanelView 2711E series are compatible with version 1 and later firmware revisions while the 1000e terminals only support firmware version 3 or later. These modules have 128 KB of SRAM, 1.75 MB of Flash memory, 64 KB and 128 KB of E/PROM, and PCMCIA memory card support as storage options. The contrast and brightness can be configured from the local menu. An RS-232 serial cable can be used to transfer files between the operator terminal and a computer through the RS-232 port.
This section will describe how to diagnose and solve operational problems of a Panelview 1000E, 1200E, or 1400E terminal. To solve PanelBuilder software problems, refer to the appropriate Allen-Bradley manuals.
If the screen on your PanelView 1000 terminal has become darkened, either the screen saver has been switched on or the backlight has been switched off. If you note uneven intensity, the backlight may need to be replaced. The backlight should be checked for replacement every 10,000 hours of operation. For the procedure of replacement, see the Installation Data Sheet that is included in the Backlight Replacement Kit (A-B Catalog Number 6189-NL2). To prolong the life of the backlight, use the screensaver and turn down the backlight intensity. After changing the backlight, reset the hours for the backlight time. You can also check the amount of hours taht the terminal has been in iperation by selecting Terminal Diagnostics from the Terminal Configuration screen. Then select the Hours Logged tab.
Verifying Configuration Settings
To view the terminal network settings, press the Terminal Network Setup button on the Terminal Configuration screen. The settings displayed for RIO, DH+, and ControlNet are those of the current application.
Major Fault Messages
The following table lists the most common major fault messages that can occur on a PanelView terminal.
