About 1786 Repeaters

The 1786 repeaters series is a series of ControlNet modular repeater adapters by Allen-Bradley. These repeater adapters are made to help create a star or ring topology, execute the conversion of network media from copper to fiber, create a point-to-point topology, or extend the length of a network, and the reverse is also true. The maximum number of repeater adapters allowed on a series is 20. The 1786-RPA/B ControlNet repeater adapter module from the 1786 repeaters series operates on 24 Volts input power and it comes with a detachable power supply. The 1786 ControlNet modular repeaters adapt to create ControlNet network repeaters. From the Allen-Bradley 1786 Repeaters series, the 1786-RPA/B repeater adapter is compatible with several modules, thus helping to create the ControlNet network repeater, for instance, the medium-distance 1786-RPFM repeater fiber modules, short-distance 1786-RPFS repeater fiber modules, dual-copper 1786-RPCD repeater module, or the fiber-ring 1786-RPFRXL repeater modules.

The 1786-RPA/B repeaters from the Allen-Bradley 1786 repeaters series works with the 1786-RPFS or the 1786-RPCD repeater modules, allowing the users to attach as many as 4 repeaters to the repeater adapter as desired. However, when it is used with 1786-RPFRXL and 1786-RPFRL repeater modules, only 2 repeaters can be attached to the repeater adapters. The 1786 repeaters provide digital re-timing of the ControlNet network data, 1 coaxial channel, and the power to the repeater modules along with status indicators. When the adapters ship, they come with items such as 1 detachable terminal block or repeater adapter power connector, 1 DIN rail locks, and one 75 ohms terminator that helps with the termination of the unused ports.
