About Point I/O 1734

The Allen-Bradley 1734 Point I/O modules are available as digital, analog, specialty, AC/DC, RTD, Thermocouple, and point guard safety-rated input/output modules for a range of applications. Each module has 1 to 8-point channel density and they support producer/consumer technology for sharing input information and output status between multiple Logix controllers. Four of the main components of the Point I/O 1734 modules are communication interface modules, terminal base units, power distribution modules, and field interface and system-interface circuitry. The network protocols available for modules in the Point I/O 1734 product family include the EtherNet/IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, and other open network protocols. They allow up to 504 channels on a single network interface. The modular design and removable terminations offer the flexibility and cost-effectiveness of using only the modules that the users’ specific applications require. They also allow for the side-by-side operation of standard I/O and safe I/O in the same chassis, and they support local and remote operation.

Point I/O 1734 modules are a major component of Allen-Bradley Automation Integrated Architecture systems and they offer channel-level diagnostics for fast and seamless troubleshooting. Modules in this family are equipped with user-configurable features, including channel-level alarm announcements and channel-level short-circuit detection with electronic feedback to meet application-specific requirements. Point I/O 1734 modules have remove and insert under power (RIUP) support to allow for maintenance while the system is running and the modules and base units can be mounted horizontally or vertically without impeding performance.  The full add-on profiles for programming Point I/O 1734 modules are available in the Studio 5000 and RSLogix 5000 computer software.
