About IMC S Class

The IMC S Class is an entire series of microprocessor-controlled digitally programmable servo motor controllers manufactured by Allen-Bradley. The motion controllers are available in 2 axes (0 and 1) and 4 axes (0, 1, 2, and 3) encoder input and servo output configurations. Each controller features an Intel 80960SB 16 Mega-Hertz motion control microprocessor and they support synchronous, concurrent, and independent motion on all axes. These controllers can be used to achieve standalone motion and logic control in a wide spectrum of industrial applications. Communication with other devices can be established through the dedicated serial communication ports on the controllers.

Integrating the IMC S motion controllers into a servo system with separate drives and feedback encoders allow the system to achieve closed-loop point-to-point positioning. Motion controllers in this series are available in input voltage ratings of 90 to 100 Volts and 175 to 264 Volts AC. Each unit has 26,000 electronic cam profile points that can coordinate motion with other axes. The non-volatile storage option on the controllers is a battery-backed, write-protected RAM and the integral remote input/output function can be used to directly connect the controllers to Allen-Bradley programmable logic controllers. The operating system of the IMC S class servo motion controllers supports multitasking. They can perform 10 tasks simultaneously and the acceleration and deceleration rates are independently programmable. They support up to 2,000 user-defined variables. The velocity profile options include parabolic, S-curve, and trapezoidal velocity. The Graphical Motion Control Language (GML) from Allen-Bradley is used for programming and customizing the IMC S class servo motion controllers.
