About 1715 Redundant I/O

The Allen-Bradley 1715 redundant I/O system series was created to meet the challenges of industrial automation systems where component failure and malfunctioning are simply not an option. Redundant systems configure components in pairs, which guarantees the operability of the system. The modules from the 1715 series of redundant I/Os are conformally coated to have the highest level of moisture resistance and both high and low-temperature resistance. Some modules in the series are capable of operating in the temperature range of -25 to 70 degrees Celsius. The 1715 redundant I/O modules support fault-tolerant capabilities without the need for any additional hardware or software. Their special feature is that they can be replaced while the system is in operation, so the system does not have to stop even for this kind of maintenance procedure.

The Allen-Bradley 1715 series I/O systems’ analog inputs accept 4 to 20 mA signals, they can hold up to 16 galvanically isolated channels, and they allow the self-test procedure to be started. The analog outputs can send a maximum of 8 analog signals per module in the range of 4 to 20 mA. The digital inputs (up to16 per module) operate with 24 Volts DC power, they are isolated one from another, and they support field fault detection. A maximum of 8 digital outputs per module can be configured as duplex series output switches. These digital outputs support reverse current protection and dual redundant field power feed. The Studio 5000 Logix Designer from Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation software is used for the configuration of the Allen-Bradley 1715 redundant I/O systems.
