About CompactBlock I/O 1791P
The Allen-Bradley CompactBlock I/O 1791P modules series is a series of cabinet-mounted, stand-alone Block I/O base modules that communicate via the Profibus link, and these modules are designed to provide cost-effective and easy-to-use distributed I/O solutions for high-performance system control. The CompactBlock I/O 1791P modules have an IP 20 protection rating in a secondary enclosure, and they all support the single bus cabling that helps to reduce maintenance. The CompactBlock I/O 1791P modules have 10 to 30 Volt DC module power requirements that can accommodate a wider range of applications. The CompactBlock I/O 1791P module series comprises 8 to 16-point modules with both sinking and sourcing inputs and outputs. The 24 Volts DC sinking inputs are NEMA Type 3+ compatible, which supports a wide range of compatible sensors, and they have self-protected outputs that provide short-circuit protection. The CompactBlock I/O 1791P modules can connect to the PLCs via the PROFIBUS-DP scanners, and the PROFIBUS-DP scanners provide device-level communication between programmable logic controllers and distributed I/Os.
The CompactBlock I/O 1791P modules can be installed and configured easily by using the Generic Station Description (GSD) files which are database text-description files that show information about PROFIBUS devices to the controllers. The CompactBlock I/O 1791P modules have rotary address switches and auto baud detection capabilities that help to improve network commissioning. These modules have removable terminal blocks which eliminate the need for rewiring the modules after replacement and which also reduce maintenance costs. The CompactBlock I/O 1791P module series supports both panel and DIN Rail mounting, and they can be mounted in either horizontal or vertical configurations. All CompactBlock I/O 1791P modules have indicators that provide diagnostic read information on the modules status, network status, and I/O status. The CompactBlock I/O 1791P modules are c-UL Listed, and CE certified, and they are designed to operate within a 0 to 60 degrees Celsius temperature range.
