About 8520 CNC Controllers

The Allen-Bradley 8520 CNC controllers are a series of 9/230 controllers in the Allen-Bradley 8520 Computer Numerical Control (CNC) system that is designed to provide out-of-the-box programming capabilities for improved system performance, reduced costs, and complete system control. The 8520 CNC controller series comprises processor modules from the Allen-Bradley 9/230 CNC systems, 9/260 and 9/290 CNC systems, 9/440 CNC systems, and the 9/440HR CNC systems, and they can be ordered as single-axis, 3-axis, and 4-axis controllers. The 8520 CNC 9/230 controllers can be ordered as single-axis and 3-axis controllers, and they support both the Allen-Bradley 8520 digital amplifiers and the Allen-Bradley 1394 digital servo amplifiers. The 9/260 and 9/290 controllers comprise a motherboard and a CPU board installed in an enclosure, and this enclosure also supports 3-axis digital and analog servo modules, a remote I/O port, and a power supply.

The 8520 CNC 9/440 controllers are resolver-based controllers that support up to 4 closed-loop axes and 2 closed-loop analog systems. The 9/440 resolver-based controllers comprise a resolver board that provides CNC logic, a feedback board, and a power supply, and they are designed for use with the Allen-Bradley 1326 digital servo motor series. The 9/440HR controller series supports up to 4 closed-loop axes and 2 closed-loop analog axes, and they are designed to interface with the Allen-Bradley 1326 digital servo motors with high-resolution feedback options. The 9/440 controllers can be ordered as single-axis, 3-xis, and 4-axis devices with resolver feedback ports, analog outputs, and encoder feedback ports (3-axis and 4-axis only). The 8520 CNC controllers support the RS-232, RS-422, MMS Ethernet Communications, and the Data Highway Plus (DH+) communication interfaces. They also support a wide range of operator interfaces and compatible adapter modules.
