About Flex I/O 1794

The 1794 Flex I/O series is an I/O distribution system series of modules whose main purpose is to connect more than 1 network between them. This series of devices has been launched by Rockwell Automation under its brand Allen-Bradley. The Rockwell Automation 1794 Flex I/O distribution system modules provide all the functions of racked I/O with the advantages of being more flexible and not occupying excessive space. One of these adapter modules can provide up to 8 I/O connections and enable connections between a mix of a different number of inputs and outputs depending on the requirements of the applications. These distribution system modules have been designed to operate in extreme conditions such as temperatures of more than 55 degrees Celsius and at high levels of humidity.

The Rockwell Automation 1794 Flex I/O distribution system modules contain a power supply that converts a voltage of 24 Volts DC into 5 Volts DC to suit to the power level to the rack. They also feature communications through the Ethernet/IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Remote I/O, Profibus DP, and other networks. This system provides enough flexibility to let the users choose a module according to the requirements of the application at hand. These modules can be digital, analog, or even a combination of different mechanisms. The Rockwell Automation 1794 Flex I/O distribution system modules feature isolated inputs and outputs, protected outputs, and several status LEDs. They also cover a wide range of electrical ratings. As additional features, these modules come with fuse modules and diagnostic modules that monitor, detect, indicate, and report any faults related to problems with the wirings.
