About PowerFlex 527

The PowerFlex 527 series is an adjustable frequency drive series from Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation. These drives are designed to be used with Allen-Bradley Logix programmable automation controllers. These are ideal for machines that benefit from using the same drive configuration for both AC and servo drives. The 527 series drives feature Ethernet/IP network support for internal communication. They provide maximum flexibility for application demands of up to 30 Horsepower and 22 kilowatts. The PowerFlex 527 series drives can be used with CompactLogix 5370 controllers and Studio Logix designer applications. The Logix integration system helps to deliver a high level of motor coordination to the drives. This series features removable MOV to ground options that provide ground-free operation when the drives are used with ungrounded distribution systems. The PowerFlex 527 series features an integral brake resistor or IGBT for dynamic braking. Some variants are also available without the IGBT braking system.

The PowerFlex 527 series drives come with dual overload rating for drives above 15 Horsepower and 11 Kilowatts. All the drives in the series can operate with 110% overloads for 60 seconds or 150% overloads for 3 seconds. Also, they can run in heavy-duty mode and with 150% overloads for 60 seconds or 180% overload for 3 seconds. The drive series comes with an adjustable PWM frequency of up to 8 kHz for quiet operation. The PowerFlex 527 drives feature different control algorithms to control and regulate the speed and torque of 3-phase induction motors. The control algorithms are Volts per Hertz control, Sensorless vector control, and Vector control with Force technology. Force technology is an Allen-Bradley patented control algorithm. Some variants of the PowerFlex 527 drives are equipped with encoders for the feedback.
