The Micro 800 series is a series of PLC devices from Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation. It is a cost-effective series and it saves machine assembly time. The 800 series devices have set a global standard for robust performance and capability and ease of use to match various lower-end application demands. This series has been specially designed for low-cost standalone machines. The devices in the 800 series come with embedded USB ports for easy programming. They use simple serial and Ethernet/IP networks for networking and communication. The Micro 800 devices are equipped with removable terminal blocks that make installation and maintenance easy. The Automatic Device Replacement feature is available in all the device variants of the 800 series. This feature helps when the users need to replace parts and it automatically detects the new part and downloads the necessary information and driver for it. Using the Workbench software, the 800 PLC devices can be controlled and programmed.
The Micro 800 series devices are available with both human-machine interfaces and without them. Some of the variants are equipped with LED indicators to show the running status of the PLC devices. There are plug-in modules that are supported by the Micro 800 programmable controller series, including the Micro 810, 820, 830, and 850 plug-in modules. The Micro 800 product line features specialty modules that can extend a machine’s functionalities. An Easy 8 module is available in the 800 series which is a single-channel plug-in module that can read operating conditions and digitize the load cell sensor that is used in process-weighing applications. Various instruction sets, including the Ladder diagram and functional block diagram, is supported by the Micro 800 devices. The Micro 800 series can produce closed-loop control systems with embedded PID instructions and floating-point calculations. It can also help shorten the machine development time by using the 280 KB memory.
