The S811 Soft Starters are solid-state automation control devices. They are manufactured by Eaton Cutler-Hammer. They are compact in size and they can easily fit across-the-line NEMA and IEC starters. They provide a smooth start to 3-phase induction motors. They are mainly used with chillers, pumps, and machine tools that require 85% of the motor’s rated starting torque. The S811 Soft Starters come with a ton of features and they are available in different specifications. The starters feature edge-level sensing control, built-in communication using the Eaton Quick Connect port, advanced diagnostics capabilities (fault queue, control status, and breaker status), and an impressive array of system monitoring and protective features. The edge-sensing feature allows for a motor restart when a fault condition is cleared, the permissive terminal is supplied with 24 Volts DC, and the reset mode parameter is set to “AUTO” or “MANUAL.”
The S811 Soft Starters are available in different starting modes, including the voltage ramp start and the current limit start. The S811 Soft Starters uses a silicon-controlled rectifier for controlling the starting process. The S811 Soft Starters features the unique soft stopping pump control option which provides a smooth transition for stopping a motor. This stopping mode is also used as a safety feature. The front part of the starters come with easily readable digital interface modules. They allow the operators to feed information into the devices, configure the devices, and troubleshoot them when necessary. The interfaces are also used to monitor parameters and system values. The S811 Soft Starters feature reduced inrush currents which lead to more stable power grids. The starters are available in different configurations to suit different user requirements. They are available in different frame sizes with different current ratings.
