Outstanding Motor Control
1336 PLUS II drives provide exceptional motor speed and/or torque control using Sensorless Vector Control mode with full tuning or standard Volts-per-Hertz (V/Hz) mode with “Full Custom” operation capability.
Sensorless Vector Control: This is a powerful motor control algorithm that brings the following performance enhancements to the Allen-Bradley 1336 PLUS II drive series.
- Excellent low-speed torque at motor speeds as low as 15 RPM. This provides a constant motor torque speed range of 120:1.
- Enhanced acceleration control that provides an acceleration/breakaway torque of up to 250% to move heavy-duty loads with ease.
- A fast flux build-up mode that is user-programmable to assist in acceleration control of large AC motors.
- Improved performance can be achieved by programming the drive’s setup parameters with the actual values specified on the motor nameplate. While optimum results can be obtained by programming the actual voltage required for IR compensation and the actual amps needed to provide no-load flux. If the aforementioned values are not known, you can use setup procedures to determine the correct values.
- A fast acceleration mode: The lowest possible motor acceleration time can be provided for low-inertia applications, when the Adaptive Current Limit feature in 1336 PLUS II drives is disabled.
Volts-per-Hertz (V/Hz): The1336 PLUS II AC drive series provides a fully-programmable V/Hz motor speed control mode. This mode allows optimal performance in applications that require multiple AC motors to be controlled by just one 1336 PLUS II AC drive, particularly when the motors are of different types and sizes. For example, a 15 HP/11 kW motor and 5 HP/3.7 kW motor on a 20 HP/15 kW 1336 PLUS II drive.
Exceptional Flexibility
The 1336 PLUS II drive series provides unparalleled programming flexibility and application versatility with digitally programmable features and configurable control I/O interfaces.
- Digitally Programmable Features: l336 PLUS II AC drives are available with digitally programmable features that help execute precise and consistently accurate drive system setup, operation, and control. They also include a Human Interface Module that allows for local drive programming. A l336 PLUS II AC drive can also be programmed locally via a serial communications port utilizing a compatible Allen-Bradley SLC controller, PLC module, or DriveTools drive programming software.
- Configurable Control I/O: 1336 PLUS II configurable control inputs and outputs replace standard inputs and outputs with a variety of I/O configuration options, facilitating simple connections to many user-defined control schemes. This also means that you can program the 1336 PLUS II control I/O to meet virtually every application requirement.
Advanced Diagnostics
1336 PLUS II AC drives incorporate built-in diagnostics that selectively monitor the control conditions and output current of a 1336 PLUS II drive while in operation. This allows for implementation of real-time preventive maintenance – a maintenance strategy that can help reduce machine downtime, improve workplace safety, and increase system productivity.
Depending on the configuration settings of a particular 1336 PLUS II AC drive, customized drive status and fault reporting can be done through the drive’s Human Interface Module or via its SCANport communications port. Fault diagnostics are initiated every time the 1336 PLUS II AC drive is switched on. All through its entire run sequence, the AC drive will continuously look for possible fault conditions, alerting the operator of any alarm conditions like motor overload, excessive bus voltage, drive overload, low bus voltage, or overcurrent, before a fault occurs. Should the drive reach a fault level, it will generate diagnostic messages in plain language to help users diagnose and isolate the issue. This allows maintenance personnel to take prompt, corrective action(s), thereby minimizing unplanned downtimes and related costs.
Energy Savings
1336 PLUS II AC drives have an integral Auto Economizer feature that merges stator flux regulation with an economizer programme to assist end users reduce energy costs. When enabled, the feature monitors the output current of the 1336 PLUS II AC drive and compares it against the user-programmed overload amps (full-load amps). In load conditions in which the actual current being drawn by the connected motor is considerably less than the user-programmed full-load/overload amps (i.e. in idle situations), the 1336 PLUS II drive with the Auto Economizer enabled will automatically start reducing the output voltage being supplied to the motor. This reduces the amount of flux current in the connected motor if it is lightly loaded, resulting in a lower kW/power usage and reduced energy costs.
Excellent Speed Regulation
The 1336 PLUS II AC drive series provides optional encoder feedback for automation applications that require exceptional motor speed regulation. The option is offered for use with differential type or single-ended encoders. It provides closed-loop motor speed regulation from a no-load condition to 0.1% full load. To implement closed-loop speed control with a 1336 PLUS II AC drive you’ll require a differential or single-ended encoder and a jumper-selectable control interface board (Cat. No. 1336-L4E, 1336-L5E, or 1336-L6E*)with the appropriate encoder inputs.
Premier Integration
1336 PLUS II AC drives use the same communication and control interface options as Allen-Bradley SMC (Smart Motor Controllers) soft starters, Bulletin 1305 drives, Allen-Bradley SMP solid-state overload relays, 1336 FORCE adjustable frequency AC drives, and 1336 IMPACT field-oriented control drives. For this reason, you can readily integrate 1336 PLUS II AC drives with the aforementioned Allen-Bradley motion/motor control products to improve your motion control system design, operator training, component integration, and system maintenance.
For example, integrating a 1336 PLUS II AC drive with a Bulletin 150 SMC-PLUS motor controller provides a mechanism to automatically or manually transition a single AC motor (once a drive fault occurs) from drive control to across-the-line (bypass) operation, in which case the motor runs at specified base speed. The SMC-PLUS controller provides soft-starting capability when initially switching to automatic or manual bypass operation.
Variable Torque and Constant Torque Capabilities
Each 1336 PLUS II AC drive has the capability to provide a variable torque output and constant torque output. For instance, the 1336F-BRF100-AA-EN drive model provides 11.0 kW/15.0 HP output power and 22.0 A output current for variable torque at 400 VAC and 480 VAC. The same drive model also provides a power output of 7.5 kW/10.0 HP and an output current of 16.1 A for constant torque at 380 to 480 Volts AC.
Note: In the case of 230 Volts AC and 575 VAC ratings, the variable torque and constant torque 1336 PLUS II drive ratings are the same.
Essentially, Allen-Bradley 1336 PLUS II AC drives use adjustable drive output voltage and programmable PWM (pulse width modulation) frequency to accurately control motor speed and torque. The two outputs, PWM frequency and drive output voltage, can be readily fine-tuned to deliver the desired drive system performance under varying/fluctuating motor loads.
In addition, the 1336 PLUS II drive series does offer a programmable Flying Start feature for applications that require an AC drive to “pick up” a spinning motor load at its present direction and speed in RPM, and then decelerate or accelerate it to the desired direction and speed. The Flying Start feature can determine the direction and speed of a rotating motor and initiate the drive’s output at that specific speed. A 1336 PLUS II AC drive with this feature enabled will then bring the rotating motor to the desired speed. Flying start operation can be executed with or without an encoder mounted on the connected motor.
